Bradford City Veterans bowed out at the group stage of the 36th annual Hamm SpVg international veterans tournament.
The event is held annually in Bradford’s twin town of Hamm in Germany.
City have won the trophy twice before, in 1987 and 2011.
Due to the Bantams reaching the League Two play-off final the same weekend, they were without Wayne Jacobs, Dave Baldwin and Jamie Lawrence.
The travelling squad included former players Graeme Tomlin-son, Neil Grayston and Dave Donaldson, along with former club apprentices Lee Clapham, Jason Ryan and James Hamilton. Former Guiseley players Dave Morgan and Simon Parke also made the trip.
City beat VVOstrabeke of Holland and earned a creditable draw against reigning champions Hertha Berlin, before another draw and a last-minute defeat to local German side Hammer 2008 saw them exit the tournament.
Hertha Berlin BSC retained the trophy, beating Burnley 2-0 in the final.
Any former Bradford City players aged over 32 interested in playing in next year’s tournament should telephone Lee Clapham on 07860-555443.
