A dream final at 2014 Ryder Cup venue Gleneagles is the target for amateur Gary Parkes and South Bradford PGA professional partner Paul Cooke in the Lombard Trophy, the biggest pro-am competition in Europe.

Eight-handicapper Parkes, a 35-year-old postman, teed up a chance to tread the fairways of the PGA Centenary course at the famous Scottish resort in September when he won his club qualifying competition with a nett score of 66.

He and Cooke, 47, now advance to the regional final at Fulford Golf Club in July, when they will play one round of better-ball medal play with the chance to secure one of 16 spots available for the 36-hole grand final.

The tournament annually attracts more than 50,000 competitors from across Great Britain and Ireland and is now its 29th competitive year. It marks a return as title sponsor for Lombard, who were the original sponsors from 1995 to 2006.
