Dudley Hill produced their best performance of the season to beat National Conference Division One leaders Wigan St Judes 34-10 at Parry Lane.

Hill had hooker Nathan Kitson doing a superb job filling in at full back, with Adam Jefferson making big inroads with some powerful runs. Debutant Steve Mason looked very dangerous on the wing and hooker Isaac Brown caused mayhem all afternoon.

Hill went in 16-4 up at half-time with a try from Brown, who shot out of acting half to side-step two defenders on his way to the line.

Mason crossed after some great centre play by Kenny Smith following an offload in the tackle, and Kitson then made the whitewash and added his second conversion.

Hill started the second half in the same fashion when substitute hooker Kyle Carter sprinted from acting half to ghost past three defenders to go in under the sticks. Despite conceding the next try, Hill’s uncompromising defending against a previously unbeaten St Judes side started to take its toll, with Steve Lamond and Willy Woodhead doing most of the damage.

Neil Wall was next to cross with a customary try and the final touchdown of the profitable afternoon saw Mason’s second of the game after some fine handling from halves Ryan Dickinson and Cameron Gibson.
