It has been a mixed week for Bradford City in the Northern Women’s Combination – and there is another hectic one ahead.
A shock 2-1 defeat by lowly Liverpool Feds was followed by a 2-0 midweek win over Sheffield United at Thackley, with Bridie Hannon and Chantelle O’Hara scoring.
The three points from the Sheffield game left Steve Winterburn’s side just a point behind second-placed South Durham with a game in hand.
A visit to Leeds City Vixens, followed by back-to-back games against leaders Chorley, could well determine the outcome of the title race and secure a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
City are currently five points adrift of Chorley with two games in hand but success in their next three outings would put them in pole position by next weekend.
Huddersfield Town can help City on Sunday as they entertain Chorley but are destined for a mid-table finish at best.
The City A team, having finished their North East Regional League season, are to join the Premier League Reserve Division next season.
In the Regional League, Rothwell have sealed promotion to the Premier Division from Division One North but Keighley Oaks have resigned from that section.
Bradford Park Avenue have almost certainly avoided relegation from the Premier Division of the West Riding County League after an 8-1 win over Ossett Town.
That came thanks to hat-tricks from Steph Skelton and Nic Chamberlain and two goals by Annie Roberts.
