Crow Nest Golf Club members paid a fitting tribute to a very popular former member as 100 took part in the Mitchell Memorial Trophy.
Trevor Mitchell, a past Rabbits' Captain who played the game with a smile on his face, died during a club competition in May 2009.
The Mitchell Memorial, which is a four-player team event allowing any combination of ladies, men and juniors playing off full handicaps, reflects his outlook on the game.
This year the competitors played in near-perfect conditions, with the recent visitor comments about the greens being "the best in the area" still ringing true. Therefore a good score would probably be needed to win it.
As usual, the "Crow Nest Faithful" gathered in strength for the presentation, when reflections and memories of Trevor Mitchell's life were made.
Club Captain Shaun Higgins presented the Mitchell Trophy to the winning team of David, Gary and Kyle Broadbent and "Shinny" McDonagh, who carded a very commendable team score of 19 under par.
Eddie Hirst, Eddie Spencer, "Baz" Crossley and Martin Thomas secured second spot after a countback with a score of 15 under par.
