Matty Jackson and Steve Wales were both on the Yorkshire Amateur League hat-trick trail as Gildersome Spurs kept up their Senior A section title push with an 8-1 home victory over bottom side Bramley Juniors.

Spurs have games in hand on all three teams above them and it took Jackson just 20 seconds to open the scoring with a cheeky flick over the keeper.

Bramley drew level in the 20th minute but Jackson restored the advantage before half-time and then missed a penalty after the interval with his treble beckoning.

Matty Moon added the third and fourth goals before Wales opened his account with the fifth and sixth. Jackson did complete his hat-trick with the seventh and regular penalty taker Wales netted the eighth from the spot for his own treble.

Old Batelians remained in contention for the Senior B title as they stayed second with an 8-0 romp against visiting Thornesians.

Section top scorer Rob Bordman added three more to his tally to give him 34 for the season, while Mark Heseldin also bagged a hat-trick and Duncan Batchelor added a double.

Batelians are three points behind Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves having played a game more, with the leaders edging a 2-1 win at St Bedes in their latest outing.

St Bedes took the lead with a Jonathan Hicks 35-yarder but Medics hit back after the interval through Niall Robinson and Arnaldo da Silva to leave the destiny of the title in their own hands.

AFC Heckmondwike made it three successive clean sheets with a 2-0 home win over Old Centralians that left them fourth in Division One. Liam Gowans and a freak long-distance own goal by Danny Harrison proved decisive.

Sixth-placed Gildersome Spurs Reserves completed their league programme with a 4-0 win at fading Alwoodley Reserves with goals from Ash Thompson, Danny Norton, Ash Brookes and James Wilby.

Farsley Celtic Juniors kept up the pressure on leaders Farnley Sports with a 6-0 win at second-bottom St Nicholas. Si McQuiston (2), Ben Cooke, Luke Gordon, Andy Cooper (who also missed a penalty) and Tom Metcalf provided the fire power.
