Ricky Ravenhill column
They say that refereeing decisions even themselves out over a season – but at the moment we don’t seem to be getting anything going for us.
There were a couple of penalty shouts at Chesterfield that weren’t given and then the Rotherham one that was.
Referees have got big jobs to do but you trust them to make more right decisions than wrong ones. Unfortunately we’re questioning that at the minute because they seem to be consistently going against us.
We were discussing the Rotherham penalty afterwards and surely the handball has to be intentional to be given? But their lad just jumped into Nelse and he didn’t even know the ball hit him.
It was a hard game and you give it everything but you can’t legislate for crucial decisions like that and it’s tough to take.
We went into that game in good spirits after playing so well at Chesterfield, where we deserved more than a draw. When my goal went in, I really thought we’d won it and it was disappointing to concede the way we did so late.
It was nice for me personally to score my first goal of the season at last. With the pitch being in the state it was, I just concentrated on keeping the shot down and it seemed to go through everyone.
It was great to get it in front of all the Bradford fans. They were brilliant all afternoon and made it a fantastic atmosphere to play in.
Tuesday was the same and the lads really appreciate that level of support. That’s why we are trying so hard to do the best we can and hopefully we can reward the fans by beating Burton.
I got sent off, of course, when we played down there but I’m not going into the game this weekend thinking about revenge.
That’s gone now and there’s no point in dwelling on it. This is a completely separate game and I’m just concentrating on giving a good account of myself and helping us get the win.
It’s tight still and we really need the three points to take into the last game at Cheltenham.
