Lyceum won the first trophy of their short Bradford Sunday Alliance League history with a 2-0 victory over Junction Wyke in the Amateur Cup final at Manningham Mills yesterday afternoon.
Junction were the first team to impress and went close to scoring in the early stages but a thunderbolt into the top corner of the net from Glynn Beale in the 21st minute put Lyceum in front.
In the second half, Lyceum added a further goal from Jack Barker to beat a young but talented Junction 2-0.
In the Premier Division, West Bowling beat Sandy Lane 2-0 to add another three points as they narrowed the gap on defending champions Buttershaw White Star at the start of a defining week for both clubs.
They play each other twice in four days, and both matches have a lot riding on them.
On Thursday they clash at Thackley in the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup semi-final and then on Sunday they clash in what could be a title decider for the Premier Division.
The clubs have already met twice this season. They shared the points in the league but in the League Cup semi-final, Bowling won 3-1.
After an even first half, Bowling moved in front against Sandy Lane on the hour when Stuart McCallum headed home a rebound off the crossbar after a fiercely-struck free-kick by Daryl Leach, and in the last minute Joe Jagger ran on to a through ball from Carl Horseman to seal the victory.
Peel Park took another small step towards in their quest for the Division One title with a 2-0 victory at George Hotel.
Peel drew first blood on 15 minutes with a close-range header from Steve Jarockyj but windy conditions meant chances few and far between.
George pressurised in the second half and it took a late penalty, won and scored by Terence Hargreaves, to give the visitors the points.
In Division 1A, Dog and Gun and Unity remained goalless until the last minute when Dog and Gun goalkeeper Tom Metcalfe stepped up to crash home a free-kick!
White Hart Eccleshill took a large step towards winning the Division 1B title, beating Great Northern 6-3.
Andy Philp hit a brace for the hosts and Aidan Rhodes bagged a hat-trick. If White Hart defeat Lane Ends on Thursday, the title is theirs.
In Division 2B, Grass Greener United beat Saltaire Rangers 1-0, veteran Sean O'Connor getting the goal.
Division 3A leaders Cartwright Lister keep on winning. They beat Eccleshill WMC 3-2 but Mill Lane kept up the pressure at the top with a fine victory over basement club Great Northern Reserves.
