Tyersal must wish they could play West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division strugglers Overthorpe every week.
They beat them 9-1 back in February and almost repeated the scoreline in the return fixture when, despite being 2-1 behind at half-time, rallied to win 8-2 and condemn their hosts to almost certain relegation.
Jason Milner and a Scott Minto penalty saw Overthorpe take a shock first-half lead but Andrew Bailey responded with a hat-trick, and Nick Cowling, Fabian Evans, Alan Morley junior, Damian Rushworth and Glynne Beale also hit the target as Tyersal moved up to fifth place.
An own goal from Campion’s Saul Peltier after 20 minutes gave Bay Athletic the advantage at Scotchman Road.
While Campion created chances they were foiled by Bay keeper Graham McLachlan and Peltier’s own goal was all that separated the sides after 90 minutes.
Salts ended their home league fixtures with a 2-1 defeat as Joe Jagger hit two late goals for Littletown before Mat Newall reduced the arrears in the final minute.
With Steeton not playing, second-placed Ovenden West Riding moved to within six points after strikes from John Booth and Stephen Fullard gave them a 2-0 home win over Hall Green United.
Halifax Irish booked their place in the last four of the Division One Cup after beating Wakefield City 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out after the sides were locked at 2-2 after extra-time.
The Irish will now meet Hunsworth or Wibsey in the semi-final.
Hunsworth regained top spot in Division One from Wakefield City after two goals from Ryan Templeton and others from Dale Wright, Lee Brook and Jamie Bairstow gave them a 5-1 home victory over Ventus-Yeadon Celtic, who managed a consolation strike from Terry Hargreaves.
Wibsey moved away from the foot of the table with a 4-2 success at bottom club Storthes Hall Reserves.
James Crossland struck twice and Mick Burke and Jamie Brennan were also on target for Wibsey, while Richard Marshall and Lloyd Jessett netted for Storthes Hall.
Steeton Reserves stay in second place in Division Two after a 2-1 victory over Ovenden West Riding Reserves, with Andy King and Adam Spencer netting for Steeton.
Salts Reserves dropped to fourth place after losing 2-0 at Hall Green United, who had Ryan Drury and Marcus Williams on target.
Tyersal Reserves moved away from the lower reaches of the table with a 5-3 home victory against basement side Kirkburton Reserves. Jamie McEwen and Mady Gassama both scored twice to add to a Len Warby goal.
