I make no apologies for upsetting any press box dress code at Chesterfield this afternoon.
I’m not going without my “lucky” trainers.
I’ve come to the conclusion that my choice of footwear is the key to City’s play-off push.
I first put them on at Torquay – basically because I forgot to take any other pair of shoes to Devon – and they “did the job” with three points. Another Adidas-assisted victory against Northampton followed and they were on my feet again for the 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
So in the same way that Phil Parkinson is happy to stick with the same winning side, I can’t possibly contemplate a change in attire.
A quick poll on Twitter this week revealed that I’m not the only one looking to assist the Bantams with any superstition necessary.
Popping the question about rituals and specific garments of clothing after the Rovers game, I was swamped with replies ranging from having to park the car in the exact same spot to “lucky” scarves and bodywarmers.
But my favourite came from a lady who goes by the Twitter name @BantamCal: “My friend had her knickers on inside out for the first game on the Wembley trail. She now routinely wears ’em like that!”
So if you see a City fan shuffling with a slightly uncomfortable gait towards the ground, you’ll know she’s only doing it for the team.
