Albion Sports boss Kulwinder Sandhu has landed one new signing but could be losing a player after Kayden Jackson reached the final stages of a nationwide competition to unearth young talent.

Sandhu said: “Kayden is one of just three young players left from thousands that entered.

"The last two will get a 12-month professional contract with either Charlton Athletic or Swindon Town, and all three of the players have been asked to spend a week at one of the clubs training with the first- team squad.

“Kayden is still Albion’s player and he will continue to be available for us up until February, when he could miss a couple of games because of the trial at whichever club it will be.

"He is only 18 and as fast as lightning, and he has done this on his own. He put himself forward for the competition and must have really impressed to have got so far.”

Sandhu also announced the club has now completed the signing of Liam Ormsby from divisional rivals Pontefract Collieries.

“The move was all agreed but Ponte were not going to release his registration until after we had played them on Wednesday.

"But that game was off because of a frozen pitch so there was no point in dragging it on and we finalised it on Thursday.”

Liam is the son of Brendan, the former Leeds United captain and Aston Villa defender who was, until recently, manager of Ponte.
