Gildersome Spurs Old Boys are through to the semi-finals of the Terry Marflitt Trophy in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

Leading 5-0 at half-time, they won 7-1 at Shire Academics. Goals from Ben Keedy (2) , Matty Jackson (2), Steve Wales, Dave Dennison and Lee Thrush booked Gildersome a derby against giant-killers Old Batelians.

The Senior B Division outfit shocked Senior A Division visitors Leeds Medics & Dentists 4-3 in a hard-fought tie that was expertly refereed by Richard Asher.

Rob Bordman lobbed the keeper to put underdogs Batelians ahead but this merely galvanised the Medics, Alex Monks putting them 2-1 ahead by half-time from a penalty and a crisp drive.

Rob Bordman netted again 15 minutes into the second half with a tracer-bullet free-kick but Colm Hicks put Medics 3-2 in front after a defensive slip.

Was it now just a matter of Medics playing out time? Not a bit of it.

Rob Bordman shimmied by the left-hand corner flag to create space to cross and his pin-point whipped-in centre was met by his brother Dave Bordman, who timed his run to perfection.

With 11 minutes to go, it was 3-3 and, with six minutes left, Batelians were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out.

Skipper Rob Bordman stepped up and bent the ball round the wall into the bottom left hand corner of the net to give Batelians a famous victory.

Grangefield Old Boys still lead the Senior A Division by nine points from Alwoodley, who have six games in hand.

However, Grangefield's cuase was not helped by a 2-1 defeat at Trinity Old Boys, Grant Jackson's goal for Grangefield being too little, too late.

Calverley United, meanwhile, have increased their Senior B Division advantage with a business-like 3-0 home victory over Wigton Moor.

A clean sheet, a man-of-the-match display from recent signing Ben Binns and goals for Kieran Kenneally (21 minutes), Nylle Rosendale (35) and leading scorer Phil Gathercole (55) made for a satisfying afternoon for United.

St Bede's, unbeaten in the league since October, have climbed to sixth after a 4-2 home win over Beeston Old Boys, although it was hard work. Ian Horrocks and Lee Cornforth netted braces for Bede's.

AFC Heckmondwike were 2-0 ahead at home to Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds in Division One but paid for tiredness as they were pulled back to 2-2 by goals from Alex Feben (20 minutes) and Matt Sudderick (65).

It was a similar story at Farsley Celtic Juniors, who led 2-0 after 15 minutes but lost 3-2 to visitors Farnley Sports.

Craig Farrand and Ben Cook put Farsley ahead, and they had a third goal contentiously disallowed before Adam Horner's tidy finish in the 37th minute and Danny Sharpe's header three minutes later made it 2-2.

In the second half, Farnley decided to allow the more attack-minded Celtic no space, and Sports' winner came in the 80th minute with Sharpe's second.

Farnley now lead the table by eight points but fourth-placed Farsley are 12 points behind with four games in hand.

Matty Smith put Gildersome Spurs Thirds 1-0 ahead in Division Two but two goals by 17-year-old Joe Hill clinched the encounter for hosts East Ardsley Wanderers.

There were no complaints from St Bede's Reserves after their 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield YMCA, Jerome Yewdall getting their equaliser in a good contest.

First-half goals for Joe Hemingway and Chris Pearson (2) gave Morley Town a 3-0 victory over Colton Institute which put them top of the table.

Calverley United Reserves' recovery is in full swing in Division Three.

They won 2-1 at Heckmondwike Grammar School Old Boys, having taken an early lead via Chris Coates.

Scott Malloy equalised from the spot on the brink of half-time but leading scorer Lee Bryant guaranteed that all three points went to Calverley.

In what was a superb advert for Division Five, Ealandians Thirds defeated St Bede's Thirds 4-3. Goals for Bede's, who were never ahead, came from Sam Thwaites, Kev Benson (penalty) and a first Amateur League goal for young Tom Mozley.
