Runcorn Town 3, Silsden 0
The feel good factor of the recently-installed management team did not stretch into a second game as Silsden were beaten at high-flying Runcorn Town in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
Andy Geary and Paul Schofield had guided the side to victory over leaders Maine Road in their first game in charge. But they could not emulate that feat against third-placed Runcorn.
The first half was an even affair with both sides defending well.
It remained goalless, with Matthew Moses being excellent form at the heart of the Cobbydalers’ defence, while Town’s big keeper Karl Willis was also on top form.
After the interval, the home side raised the stakes, and though Silsden matched them for a spell, even after going a goal down, they were well beaten.
Town opened the scoring just before the hour, Paul Shanley being on target, but had to wait until the last ten minutes to be sure of banking all three points.
Substitute Gareth Grant netted a glancing header at the near post before Scott Burton wrapped up the scoring.
