Aaron Heywood scored twice as Tyersal eased through to the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 win at Stanningley Old Boys.

Glynn Beale opened the scoring before the interval and Heywood’s second-half double wrapped up a comfortable win for the West Riding County Amateur League team.

Fellow Premier Division side Bay Athletic must wait until next Saturday before they can hopefully join Tyersal in the last eight after their fourth-round tie at Field was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Oxenhope Recreation crashed out 5-1 at home to fellow West Yorkshire League top-flight side Bardsey.

In the outstanding third-round ties, Golcar United missed the chance to set up a meeting with Ovenden West Riding after losing 4-0 at East Lancashire League side Rimington.

But Marsden sent Harrogate-based outfit Pannal packing 4-2 thanks to doubles from Callum Mead and Jonathon Newiss and next tackle Brighouse Old Boys, who won 5-1 at Ryburn United.

Only one County Amateur League side playing in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy was able to reach the last eight. Golcar United Reserves were held to a 3-3 draw after extra time at Old Headingley Reserves before winning 4-2 on penalties.

Dudley Hill Rangers and Huddersfield YMCA were both hit for six by West Yorkshire League opponents. Rangers went down 6-1 at home to Barwick, with YMCA losing 6-0 at Kellingley Welfare.

Campion Reserves, who should have been playing either Silsden White Star or Oxenhope Recreation Reserves, will have to wait to find out their opponents after that tie was postponed for a sixth successive week.

With Bay Athletic left kicking their heels due to the cup postponement, Premier Division title rivals Steeton and Ovenden West Riding both took advantage with away wins.

Leaders Steeton, who shared ten goals with hosts Salts earlier in the season, were 3-2 winners this time and now have a four-point lead over Bay.

Jamie Longley (2) and Lee Reilly outscored Mat Newell and Sam Waterhouse, with Steeton keeper Phil Rishton also playing a major role in the victory.

Ovenden won 3-0 at Campion to climb above their opponents into third place thanks to goals from Andy Gregory (2) and John Booth.

At the other end of the table, basement side Overthorpe finally won for the first time as they edged a 3-2 outcome at Lepton Highlanders.

And Kirkburton’s 2-1 home win over second-bottom Littletown opened up an eight-point gap between themselves and their opponents.

Ventus-Yeadon Celtic missed a chance to go top of Division One after losing 4-1 at home to mid-table Hunsworth. Kyle Shah’s goal was wiped out by Joel Farrar, Dale Wright, Ryan Templeton and Andy Wood.

Wibsey kicked of the new year in style as they climbed off the bottom with a 6-2 home win over Halifax Irish. James Crossland and Mike Nicholson doubles were added to by Mick Watson and Mick Burke, with Gareth Jones netting both replies.

Bay Athletic Reserves held on to top spot in Division Two with a 5-0 home win over Lower Hopton Reserves.

Salts Reserves stay two points adrift in second after a Chas Briggs goal earned his side a 1-0 win at West Horton.

Steeton’s second string moved up to third following a 2-0 victory at Tyersal Reserves, with Adam Spencer and Mark McGee on target.
