SIR - Will the undercover policemen on buses (T&A, October 25) be a permanent feature and paid for by the bus companies?

If so, wouldn't it be better just to bring back conductors, who would be able to help drivers in keeping control of any situation?

That would also be beneficial in other aspects of bus services too.

For those too young to remember, these people used to be known as bus conductors, paid by the bus companies and not from the police budget.
