SIR - I believe that fish shops still can and do have a decent living. If the end product is good there will be queues.
Many have closed, but I think it's the culture change within many areas of the city.
Customers complain of £3-plus per portion but think nothing of £10-plus for curries, etc.
Fish shop owners complain of potato costs but as we know when there is a shortage chips, etc, go up but never come down.
Yes, I love my fish and chips but like anything else you have to look around or make your own.
