SIR - Much as we all enjoy fish and chips I am afraid it won't be just the price, or even Jamie Oliver, that affects this traditional dish, but more serious problems (T&A, October 20).
We are experiencing the worst depletion of fish in our oceans known to man as they have been trawled, fished and swept of nearly all the species, which in turn is leaving the seas of this planet devoid of every living thing.
Fish will be no longer a dish to enjoy and will be a dish what we will have to forego to enable the seas to recover.
This debate and a total ban on fishing any of the oceans should encompass every nation and be made international law.
The human race has, in this last century alone, damaged this planet beyond all recognition, so at least give the seas a chance to get this recovery under way.
Get used to it, there are no fish left and greed has finally won. As the saying goes: "You can't have what we have not got."
