SIR - Regarding the article about Jack Mooney and the school not allowing either him or staff to apply cream (T&A, October 23), I feel very strongly about this as my grandson's school has the same policy and has had since my children attended years ago.
It is disgusting and amounts to discrimination of sorts, as children do fall ill and have ongoing conditions which require medication.
My children had antibiotics prescribed four times a day for illness when they went to school but the school refused to allow it to be brought into school and refused to administer it, even though it clearly had the child's name on and full instructions re dosage.
This is really silly and surely is no cause for concern if full instructions are on the label.
It's about time policies of this sort changed, especially in primary schools. I can understand there is a drug issue somewhere in this but surely this is going too far.
