SIR – We have been reading short reports of accidents on the M62 in our area, mainly on the slip roads. When the roadworks are finished, the four lanes will solve the traffic jams. But why is there a 15-mile stretch being made into four lanes?

The problem is at J27 and M621. The traffic stretches back to J25 at Brighouse all because there are those idiots who wait until the last minute to come from the outside lane, wanting to go down the M621 into Leeds.

You see them on police programmes on TV, but to see it for real you just cannot imagine what goes on in their tiny brains.

After this, the M62 flows gracefully towards the M1 and beyond, so why are there roadworks all the way to Rothwell?

I use the M62 and see broken down cars and lorries blocking a lane. Please tell me what happens when the motorway is finished, as the hard shoulder will become the inside lane?

I see lay-bys are being installed every so often, but what happens when one is in between them?

Is it true that the inside lane is actually for two-plus vehicles? If so, I want to know what happens when a junction is reached, the driver wants to continue on the motorway, so has to get into next lane, making everyone slow down so they can creep in.

Get it all done with then have a go at Tong Street because it will still be a bottleneck.
