SIR – I attended an event that was hosted by the Midland Hotel in Bradford on Monday. They provided a venue and refreshments for more than 100 children and a number of older people from the Bradford district.
This was given in the form of a voluntary donation and I would like to thank both the management and staff for all their good work.
The event was to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and involved bringing together young people from primary schools and older people working on a unique wall hanging.
In simple terms, this is to create a piece of art which will reflect the district’s unique culture, heritage and industry. We are looking at making 20 panels, which will be sewn together.
The final work will be hung in the historic Banqueting Suite in City Hall. The craft sessions will be held in your own neighbourhood working with a professional artist. If anyone, particularly older people, are interested in getting involved with the project, please contact Patrick Kerry at City Hall on (01274) 432889.
