SIR - I read Bob Watson's comments (T&A, October 23) with a great deal of disappointment.
I do not disagree with all of the views expressed by George Alagiah and I have constantly acknowledged his right to express an opinion on these matters. My problem relates to the fact that what he says is just one side of the story.
Yes, we do have our problems relating to community cohesion in Bradford but a lot of work by a lot of good people is being done to make things better - something Mr Alagiah failed to properly acknowledge.
We also have our success stories, including an improvement in GCSE results, a reduction in crime and, of course, a £2 billion regeneration project now under way.
As Leader of Bradford Council, I believe it is important that I speak up for the district when its name is besmirched or a balanced picture is not presented.
Coun Kris Hopkins, Leader, Bradford Council, City Hall, Bradford
