SIR – Ian Greenwood’s comments (T&A, August 31) confirm he is not prepared to face up to reality.

It is highly probable there will be an Asian majority on the electoral role of Bradford in ten to 15 years’ time This majority will not be subservient to the established political parties, and while not necessarily through Respect, will warrant an Asian and predominantly Muslim influence in the affairs of Bradford.

Bradford has a great future; it will follow the historical pattern of immigrants either from overseas or elsewhere in the UK, taking over the city and using their connections to build a booming economy.

It was the German Jewish emigres who sold to the world what Bradford produced and invested or gifted much of the profits to the betterment of their adopted home.

Already the Asian entrepreneurs are selling Eastern world produce to the West and will continue to fulfil the truism that the greater profit is not achieved by making things, but by selling in the right market what other people produce.

Bradford is currently the pits, the consolation is that it can’t get much worse, but it’s future as an international trading centre will be exhilarating and successful.

Our Council should eschew party politics, concentrate on running effective public services and leave our economic future to those who know what they are doing.
