SIR – I would like to thank the people of Shipley who were so generous to our collection in Shipley Market on Saturday, August 25.
Despite the heavy rain, we raised a staggering £131 for the Royal British Legion’s Battle Back Appeal. This appeal is separate from our annual Poppy Appeal.
The money raised goes towards a new personnel recovery centre. This centre will be dealing with our service personnel who have been wounded in conflict and who are long-term sick or injured. The Royal British Legion is trying to raise £50 million to fund this centre over the next ten years.
The Royal British Legion is committed to looking after all our ex-armed forces personnel and with the generous help of our citizens in the Bradford area I feel sure we will continue to contribute to our appeals.
Once again, a big thank you to all who contributed.
Keith Webster, vice chairman, The Royal British Legion, Bradford Central Branch, Campus Road, Bradford
