SIR – I am always fascinated to see what cause Karl Dallas is championing in his regular letters to the T&A.

He always presents us with a different organisation he has found for us to support but, unfortunately he does not appear to have a permanent commitment to any, so it is difficult for us T&A readers to support his latest cause.

It now seems he is castigating George Galloway (pictured), who he once supported, for being flippant with offensive remarks on the subject of rape. Apparently, Karl and all the Respect members are shocked at the antics of George and are distancing themselves from him, but take comfort, Karl, the Labour party and his Respect colleagues in London did it months ago.

Very scathingly, Mr Dallas believes that because of George Galloway’s action he has “Let the political dinosaurs out of the cupboard”. I think that if anyone believes George Galloway is anything but a political careerist, then the dinosaurs are already out of the cupboard.

I have heard Mr Galloway rant and rave on TV, particularly in his spot on Iranian TV, and I have yet to hear him put forward a policy which could be put up for debate. Indeed, I do not know what his Respect party stands for. Is it socialist, capitalist, anarchist? George Galloway is a contradiction in terms. He is married to a Muslim, holds strong Catholic beliefs, and professes to be a socialist – how mixed up can you get?

I suggest, Karl, you dump George Galloway as he is a waning star, and get back to finding us more interesting subjects to interest us.
