SIR – If the Conservatives had not rejected the reform of the House of Lords, a policy enshrined in the Lib Dem manifesto, Nick Clegg would not have ordered his MPs to vote against David Cameron’s fervent desire to change constituency borders.
This tit-for-tat scuppered the chance of our PM to equalise the number of voters in each constituency in order to gain another 20 seats, which might have seen the Tories win outright at the next election.
Those voters in Shipley who sing the praises of their MP should thank the Lib Dems, because they saved his name and their constituency from fading into oblivion. Infighting has some compensations.
