SIR – I am in agreement with John Anderson (Letters, August 23).
The way forward for this country’s future energy needs will be wind, hydro, solar and nuclear (not necessarily in that order).
We keep getting a clot or two writing in and telling us that wind power is too expensive. How the hell can summat for nowt be expensive?
Wind turbines may cost a bob or two to produce and install, but after that the wind floweth, the juice floweth. Did Sir Francis Drake say the wind was too expensive when he kicked the Armada’s backside back in the 16th century? Did the citizens of this land complain about the price of wind when they were eating their daily bread?
Why pay for products that are damaging to our existence when we are given for free, wonderful clean products?
While we’re at it, there are those that say wind turbines are a blot on the landscape, what about electricity pylons?
I believe that wind turbines can look graceful on our landscape if they are sited correctly.
