SIR – Despite the UK being in recession with millions struggling to keep their heads above water and, according to a Salvation Army study, a tenth of full-time working adults worried about providing three meals a day for their families (T&A, August 25), our inept Coalition Government has just blown £230,000 of taxpayers’ cash on artworks to decorate their plush Westminster offices and on works for a new suite of offices for peers.
For some time the proletariat have been unhappy about the maladroit way Britain’s economy has been handled, but this latest revelation takes the biscuit. The PM and DPM should be ashamed.
