SIR – About the courts’ crackdown on so-called dangerous dogs (T&A, Monday, August 20).
So there are going to be harsher penalties etc if a dog attacks someone when it is in the owner’s own property. My question is what if an intruder/burglar enters your property to inflict harm, as is the usual case. Your dog is therefore doing its job in protecting your family and home if it attacks the intruder.
Sorry but if this scenario happens on my territory, I would expect my dog to protect me, which they would.
Or should people expect to be robbed, attacked or even killed, then endure fines, prosecution and worst of all their animals to be put to sleep? One cannot win! I despair.
