SIR – Re the recent floods in the district. I have a suspicion that the poor maintenance of street grates may have something to do with it.
One very wet day recently, I was walking up Fair Road, Wibsey , from the mini-roundabout to the top of St Enoch’s Road and I counted five road grates overflowing.
On Wibsey Park Avenue, there were three overflowing outside the park.
If that is happening on two roads, it just goes to show the scale of the problem.
It appears there is no proper maintenance now and they only come out to complaints.
If a contractor is being paid for this work, they are very clearly not doing it.
