SIR – So, housing developers who lost an appeal to build hundreds of houses on green belt land have claimed that the Secretary of State was “wrong” to scupper their plans (T&A, August 18).
Well, they would say that, wouldn’t they?
And what is the stake in it for the developers Bellway and Redrow in building all these homes on beautiful countryside green fields? Yes folks, more profit.
There is more profit in building on tranquil, idyllic surroundings than on brownfield sites.
For the sake of our green and pleasant land, let’s grant more power to the Greenhill Action Group’s collective elbow. And let’s hope that the Government continue to see sense and tell these developers to ‘buy one get one free’.
