SIR – I am pleased to see that a Bradford homelessness organisation has been awarded almost £200,000 to tackle rough sleeping in the district (T&A, August 16).
What is unacceptable, however, is that this Government has allowed house building to collapse to its lowest peace-time level since 1923.
Speaking to a woman recently from the housing group Shelter, she informed me that 75,000 children in this country don’t have a roof over their heads.
Next year, when the Government introduces its Welfare Reform Act, it is estimated that thousands of tenants will face homelessness due to the controversial ‘Bedroom Tax’.
As I was saying, unacceptable.
