SIR – Re footpath clearances in Bradford (T&A, August 6), Ashton Walk to Highfield Road. In the letter from the Council, which I received on July 24 about the above work, I was told the clearance will have “a significant impact on the area and it will help local residents with future access to the community”. Whatever do these phrases mean – no prizes for plain English, then?
The local residents have made their feelings forcefully known to the Council – no clearance necessary or wanted.
There is parallel access to Ashton Walk from Highfield Road up Santa Monica Road. No need for the right of way to be cleared and resurfaced, costing money the Council can ill afford.
I notice that a footpath in Bierley is to be closed because of antisocial behaviour. Nature has closed this footpath and we no longer have antisocial behaviour. Let’s keep it that way.
