SIR – It is indeed worthy of celebration that, in the London Olympics, competitors from Yorkshire gained more medals than many major nations.
And, as Bradford represents such a significant part of Yorkshire’s scale and youthful population, we should perhaps make time to mark the winning achievements of all those successes from our very own backyard.
Never shy of ‘bigging-up’ Bradford against the evidence, maybe Bradford Council could provide a helpful map, pin-pointing the locations of all the newly gold-painted post-boxes in the Bradford Metropolitan District area, then I’m sure we will be only too happy to shimmy into our skin-tight, day-glow lycra, leap aboard our carbon-fibre racing bikes and make a Grand Tour Of Honour around all those golden tributes to our very own local heroes.
Ah well, there’s always Rio 2016...
