SIR – The co-chief executive of Westfield Steven Lowy was the subject of the business interview in a national newspaper.
In that interview, he was asked about the company’s stalled development in Bradford. His response was to say: “That’s still on the agenda. The people of Bradford deserve that building to be built. It’s a large city with an under-supply of retail space.”
“So he’s not selling it?” was the following comment, which resulted in “the Lowy smile becoming tight.”
“I didn’t say that. We may sell it, but it will play out in a way that pleases the people of Bradford.”
Well, just what are we all to make of those comments, one wonders?
