SIR – Bradford roads are congested, but what baffles me is to where all the cars with just the driver come from/going to after 9am. Shift workers will start 6am, others at 8am and office workers 9am, but the roads are still packed after this.
Our roads are full of idiots who want to get in front of you and will do anything in order to do so. I drive a van, try to stay calm in jams.
I feel it is all to do with all the traffic lights we have around this city. This is one of the main problems around this city, as well as other areas, but Bradford has dual-carriageways with 40mph speed limits which end with a single lane, down to 30mph causing tail-backs because of those who come down the outside lane at 50mph and leave it too late to get into lane.
Years ago, houses were knocked down in Tong Street to widen the street. Why has this not been done along Canal Road? As for Saltaire , wait until after 9am to get through.
Huddersfield Road from Odsal is now 30mph but there are no signs to state this. My friend was stopped by the police but they didn’t have a case because of the lack of signs. Manchester Road from city to Odsal is 40mph. A duel carriageway which continues down to Low Moor at 30mph. Why? Traffic lights are the problems.
