SIR – Thinking I would save money by responding to the car insurance advertisements aimed at people over 50, I duly did so.
“Paying more than £195?” asked the advertisement. I thought I would be the ideal person for this insurance. Only driving 3,000 miles per year, car garaged overnight, never claimed and with a lifetime’s clean driving licence, what more could they want?
Obviously this wasn’t good enough as they quoted me more than £700!
On obtaining a quotation from another company aimed at the over-50s the same thing happened. These companies were always more expensive than other companies I have found.
Surely there is a law against this type of misleading advertising?
