SIR – Re Faith Matters by Canon Andy Williams (T&A, June 2). He says, “Do we expect prayers to be answered? Surely this one has? God has saved the Queen. He has saved her from ill-health and from corruption or bitterness”.
How can anyone talk such drivel? If God has saved the Queen, why didn’t he save her father? Or does he think that King George VI was perhaps corrupt or bitter?
He then goes on to say, “God has saved her from abandoning the deep Christian faith which has sustained her”.
Does he honestly think that if she had any doubts she would dare make them public?Imagine the horror and reaction of the faithful! After all, she is Defender of the Faith.
