SIR – The occupation of the Westfield site (T&A, May 28) probably has the support of many readers, as does the demand of the protesters for a public enquiry.
There have been many questions over the years regarding this debacle, none of which appear to have been properly answered by the Council.
When the old Broadway shops were demolished to allow for the building of the new shopping centre, why did the contract not include a cast-iron guarantee that the replacement would be in place within a laid-down timescale?
That the lack of action has caused the decimation of our city centre is beyond doubt. Why, therefore, have no heads rolled within the Council, either at officer or councillor level?
It seems that these people can just carry on regardless of the shambles that they cause, with no-one ever brought to account.
