SIR – Unemployed teenagers who aimlessly hang around street corners playing loud music should take a leaf out of Dean Allen’s book (T&A, May 28).

Despite having three A-levels, every time this young Bradfordian went for an interview they told him he needed experience, so he became a volunteer worker, which he says is the best route into getting a job.

So, switch off that music, roll up your sleeves and follow suit.
