SIR - I read with disgust your article "Obsessed Aspergers man gets ASBO" (T&A September 26) This man should be getting one-to-one care in the community. Giving him an ASBO is not getting at the root of the cause.
He cannot help himself as this is obsessional behaviour, which is part of people with autism and Aspergers.
Social services should be helping this confused individual in giving him better care in the community.
We live with autism on a daily basis as out son is autistic and has similar obsessions to this man but not quite as severe.
With the right care and control, this man could lead a more normal life.
These are compulsive disorders that he needs social and drug-related help with.
