SIR - You ask why buses are not being used (T&A, September 30).
Well, if I catch a bus from near my house in Wyke to Odsal it costs me £1.20. If I get a taxi from my front door to Odsal it costs £4 to £4.50 depending who I phone.
So, if I and three friends share the taxi it's cheaper and more comfortable than a noisy, smelly bus!
Petrol prices have dropped 10p per litre in the last few months but bus prices have not. How does that work then?
I have a car and would only ever catch the bus as a very last resort.
It's all about the money with bus companies and I am disgusted with the amount of money wasted on that white elephant called a bus lane on Manchester Road.
It was never going to work making a lane that can never be used for normal traffic outside peak times; it just sits there wasted most of the time.
