SIR – I went for a walk round Roberts Park, Saltaire, on the morning of Saturday, January 28. I was amazed and disgusted to see the amount of dog fouling on the paths and grass by the flowerbeds, on the river side.
But even worse there was a man from the cricket club with a shovel picking up dog fouling off the cricket field. There were seven dogs running out of control while the owners were stood talking.
Not only was the park full of dog-fouling but the shelters and paths were covered in litter.
Why can’t Bradford Council make all dog-owners keep their dogs on leads and keep to the paths in their parks in the district? Are they waiting for litigation in the courts when someone is knocked over by these dogs running out of control? Or one of the gardeners gets some dog fouling in his eyes when cutting? Or someone playing cricket gets it on his clothes?
Bradford Council should ban all dogs from sports fields. If dogs can’t be controlled they should not be allowed in public places.
