SIR - The debate about the illumination of the Alhambra (T&A, September 25) raises an interesting challenge.
It's one thing to be saving money but I would be more impressed if we considered changing our behaviour, municipal and individual, to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we produce.
Much commercial lighting could well be turned off earlier in the evening, and as Christmas approaches it would be encouraging to see fewer lights on houses as they follow the thoughtless practice from the United States.
It might also be necessary to review our activities on Plot night.
