SIR – Yesterday my husband and I went to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield to see our grand-daughter swim.

We parked at Meadowhall and took the tram. What an eye opener! Not only was the journey there very interesting, but Ponds Forge was fantastic.

There were hundreds of children racing in the ten-lane pool, and their families were there encouraging them on. It had been a two-day meet.

All that money going to Sheffield.

We passed the Don Valley Stadium on the tram, which stopped by all the city’s attractions.

What has Bradford got? A mirror pool! We are closing swimming baths because they have not been updated.

I am very sad to say Bradford has lost its way over the last 20 years. Nothing has been done to bring visitors to this once-grand city.

Yes, the Alhambra and the Media Museum are excellent, but what is there for the young people to be trained and to take up sports? It breaks my heart.

Also, whoever signed the contract not to rebuild immediately when Broadway was demolished has ruined Bradford and they ought to be hung, drawn and quartered.
