SIR – After working for Marie Curie Cancer Care for nearly 20 years, I have made the decision to hang up my fundraising hat. I could not leave, however, without expressing my thanks to the people of Bradford.

During my time at Ardenlea in Ilkley and the Bradford Hospice in Maudsley Street, I have had the privilege of working with and meeting some exceptional people. To all those individuals and organisations who have run, swum, hiked and organised a host of events – a very big thank you.

My colleagues and I could certainly not have achieved so much without the support of our brilliant volunteers.

Being part of Marie Curie Cancer Care has been a rewarding experience, and I leave with some very happy memories, from trekking in the Sahara and Jordan, organising the Lights To Remember Concerts and being asked to switch on Christmas lights.

However, what has been one of my greatest pleasures is being able to meet so many people to talk about the charity and gain their support.

The people of Bradford are fortunate in having the hospice and our Marie Curie Nurses caring for patients who wish to remain in their own homes. Finally, may I also thank the T&A for its support.
