SIR – Under the heading ‘Council’s executive is set to decide issues’ (T&A, January 19), you inform us that the “decision-making council executive will be determining items” etc.

The second paragraph begins “Campaigners are hoping councillors will...”. The fourth paragraph begins “Councillors will be asked...”. The fifth, “Councillors are expected...”. The seventh, “Committee members will...”. Finally the eighth, “Councillors will also...”.

All of this gives the impression that the Council – the full council – is doing what it should be doing, when in effect seven chosen councillors are making all these decisions.

I have spotted a way to save money here – there are 83 councillors we obviously don’t need. What a saving!
