SIR – After reading the shocking story (T&A, January 20) of how pensioner Phyllis Wyatt (pictured), aged 89, was swindled out of her entire savings by so called “care worker” Suzanne Firth, a woman entrusted to enter the pensioner’s home each day, I had to write in.
If poor Phyllis Wyatt wants to now make life more comfortable for herself by using her savings to do so, she has had that option taken from her, while Suzanne Firth will one day be allowed to have the freedom to carry on where she left off.
I feel there ought to be some kind of intervention to protect elderly and vulnerable people from having their lives ruined by thieves who get no kind of payback or compensation.
What kind of world is it where this is allowed to happen and nobody is putting it right for the victim, who hasn’t the strength to fight for justice herself?
