SIR – Why is it that when a UK politician for once makes a stand against the continuing expansion of the EU that the usual left-leaning supporters start spouting phrases like “Little Englander” and “xenophobic”.
It's got nothing to do with either of these – it’s about making a stand to protect UK interests, plain and simple.
It’s Mr Hindle (Letters, January 18) who is out of step here – the majority of UK people are sick and tired of the continued EU “mission creep” and just want to get back to the basis of our original entry into Europe, based on mutual trade agreements and not an ever-expanding control by unelected Eurocrats.
The Prime Minister (pictured) made a stand for UK interests – and not before time.
