SIR - I write in response to T Healey (T&A Letters, September 20) and I would like to make further comment.
Mr Healey states that there are 3,000 listed buildings in Bradford.
No doubt there are, but I was referring to the loss of character in the city centre as too many older buildings have been lost, the Odeon being the last of a long line.
I have travelled to Europe and visited many cities in the British Isles which is why I can make comparisons with other cities.
I am aware that some modernisation is necessary but too much modernisation in a city centre can result in a clone-like' appearance. This is seen in many city centres across the British Isles.
A sympathetic balance between old and new buildings is essential otherwise you end up with a mish-mash of clashing architecture and styles.
A good comparison of this is the grand City Hall and straight opposite an ultra-modern building that reminds me of horses' stables. I rest my case.
