SIR - With reference to the article regarding bus route 846, and the 845 which runs weekends and evenings when the 846 does not (T&A, September 22), despite petitions and meetings the 845 was taken off during the day and the 846 is a half-hourly service in our area.
Apart from senior citizens this route caters for people going to and from work and children going to school, along with not-so-senior citizens going into the city centre and beyond.
Mornings and tea-times the bus appears to be well-used and I'm sure it's not the only route that has mainly senior citizens travelling during the day, along with young mums with their buggies and small children.
As the bus goes into Morrisons, Five Lane Ends, car park to pick up shoppers, does the store make a contribution or is it the other way round? And does the Government or Council subsidise the free travel?
The free travel scheme is due to be introduced in 2008 but it looks as if there'll be no buses at all unless they're Government funded.
We can't all jump on a bike, run a car or walk very far - pity poor Bradfordians. If they stop the buses the drivers will be out of work.
